Trump is ‘The Frankenstein’ Of American Politics

Since the novel’s publication, the name “Frankenstein” has often been used to refer to the monster itself. This usage is sometimes considered erroneous, but usage commentators regard it as well-established and acceptable. In the novel, the monster is identified by words such as “creature”, “monster”, “demon”, “wretch,” “Speaking to Victor Frankenstein, the wretch refers to himself as “the Adam of your labours”, and elsewhere as someone who “would have [been] your Adam”, but is instead “your fallen angel” (which ties to Lucifer in Paradise Lost, which the monster reads, and relates to the “modern” Prometheus of the book’s subtitle)....

The Man Paid to Speak for the President Won’t Speak for the President

President Trump’s beliefs regarding climate change have ranged from his claim that it is a “hoax” to being a signatory on a 2009 New York Times advertisement making the case for action on climate change. But on Thursday, shortly after making the significant announcement that the U.S. was pulling out from the Paris Agreement on climate change, the White House could not say where President Trump stood on the scientific consensus that human activity contributes to climate change. “The fact that the President in this speech today said that he wants to come back and renegotiate a better deal...

Philip Levine Just Became ‘America’s Most Important Mayor’

IMAGE CREDIT: OCEAN DRIVE MAGAZINE As the mayor of Miami Beach, Philip Levine just became the most important mayor in the United States. His city is sinking under water while President Trump has today declared the global climate agreement unimportant to the United States. I lived in Miami for years, and I can tell you first-hand that when it rains in Miami, it more than pours. In fact after just 30 minutes of rain, cars are covered in water. I mean covered over the roof. Philip is in a unique position right now, because only he can tell the...

Rachel Maddow out Sick the Same Week Megyn Kelly Signs Big MSNBC Contract. Coincidence?

Megyn Kelly’s big NBC News debut on Thursday morning didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. Kelly was reporting from Saint Petersburg, Russia — where she announced that she’ll be conducting a one-on-one interview with the country’s president, Vladimir Putin — and accidentally forgot to acknowledge Today anchor Hoda Kotb. However, she did greet Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer. “Hey guys, it’s great to be with you, Matt and Savannah,” Kelly said during her appearance on the Today show, addressing the two while Kotb sat next to them. But that aside, considering that the network’s biggest anchor, Rachel Maddow,...

Today, Trump Put America in the Same Place As Syria and Nicaragua

With today’s announcement that the U.S. will pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement, Trump also announced that the United States of America is now a third-world country. My gut instinct is that Trump did this just to get revenge for President Obama for once making fun of him, but for whatever the real reason is, Trump just lowered America’s standing in the world to a level that is on par with Syria and Nicaragua. Thanks,...

Trump Sucks the Wind Out of The Global Climate Agreement

The news that Trump had made his decision was reported by The Associated Press, Fox News and Axios. The administration is reportedly still deciding how it will exit the agreement. One option is to go through the established protocol for withdrawing from the accord, a process that would stretch out to the end of 2020, a White House official told Axios. Trump could also declare the Paris Agreement a legal treaty, which would require the Senate to approve it, the sources said. It is unclear whether Trump has the votes. Twenty-two of 52 Senate Republicans urged Trump to leave...

A White House in Free Fall

The James Comey vs. Donald Trump fight of the century is about to take place. With the news this morning that Robert Mueller, who heads up the special counsel looking into Trump’s dealings with Russia, has approved the public testimony of James Comey, comes the realization that something is about to break. Let’s face it, Comey has a life-long reputation to defend and Trump won’t leave his ‘throne’ easily. Let the ‘games’...
