MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – The Miami Beach Police Department is planning to hold a candlelight vigil, Sunday, for the victims of a mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.
The vigil will take place at SoundScape Park, located at 500 17 Street in Miami Beach, at 7 p.m.
In light of the shootings the Miami Beach PD has released a statement which read, “The Miami Beach Police Department is deeply saddened by the tragedy this morning in Orlando. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be increasing our patrols in and around locations frequented by our LGBT community. Our prayers and condolences go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.”
Miami Beach officials also encourage the community to donate blood to help the victims of the shooting. Those who are able to do can donate during the the vigil or visit the nearest blood bank.
The shooting at Orlando left 50 dead and 53 injured, and has also been named the worst shooting in the history of the United States.
