WEST GLACIER –

An official with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office says that one person was killed by a grizzly bear near West Glacier Wednesday afternoon.

Brandy Arnoux said that the individual was killed one mile south of West Glacier near the KOA Campground at about 4 p.m.

The bear who killed the victim is being described as a sow that was seen with two cubs. The attack occurred while the victim and one other person were reportedly riding bicycles in the area.

Officials have not found the bear yet, and are asking people in the area to stay off West Glacier-area trails until the bear is found.

Officials are now trying to recover the body of the victim.
