Let’s get something straight here: Donald Trump founded his presidential campaign on the idea that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States. In other words, the first African-American U.S. president is a ‘foreigner.’

It was an instant hit, and just like any other kind of a commercial ‘hit,’ it was followed-up with such classics as ‘I Will Build a Wall,’ ‘Putin is a Great Leader,’ and ‘Judge Curiel Is against Me Because He Is Mexican.’

That’s why it was so surprising to hear Trump admit on Friday that, in fact, President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Wait, what?! What is so telling about this, is that even though Trump just reversed himself on the idea that the president wasn’t born in the U.S.–the very foundation of his campaign–he is able to hang on to his original supporters.

This proves two important points: 1) Trump supporters are simply racists who seek a racist leader, and 2) Trump deserves credit as one of the biggest con men in all of human history.
