“Basically, we are looking at a Daily Stormer Dream Team in the Trump administration.”

Donald Trump just named Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions (R) as his pick for Attorney General, and white nationalists are thrilled.

The last time Senator Sessions was up for a federal post — a judgeship in 1986 — he was deemed too racist for the job. At his Senate confirmation hearing, a black assistant U.S. district attorney testified that Sessions had called him “boy,” called the NAACP and ACLU “anti-American” and “communist-inspired,” and said that a white attorney who represented black clients might be a “race traitor.” Sessions also reportedly joked that he thought the KKK was “O.K., until I learned they smoked pot.”

Now Sessions is Trump’s pick for Attorney General — and Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said in a statement that he was “confident” Sessions “would be reported favorably out of the committee.” Without Republican defections, Democrats alone will likely lack the votes to stop Sessions’ confirmation.

White nationalists — who have long admired Sen. Sessions for his hard-line immigration policies — quickly voiced their approval.

Even before Sessions was officially named as Attorney General, the Daily Stormer, a white supremacist, neo-Nazi news site, reported happily that he was being promoted to a better role. At the time, they speculated that he might be named Secretary of Defense.

“Our second favorite Trump guy (second to Bannon) has been promoted to a more prominent role,” wrote site founder Andrew Anglin, right above a photograph of Sessions.

Anglin was even more jubilant following news of Sessions’ selection as Attorney General and retired General Michael Flynn’s appointment as National Security Advisor.

In an article titled “It’s like Christmas,” Anglin wrote “honestly, I didn’t even expect this to all come together so beautifully. It’s like we’re going to get absolutely everything we wanted…Basically, we are looking at a Daily Stormer Dream Team in the Trump administration.”

On a thread on Stormfront, a white nationalist, white supremacist, and neo-nationalist forum, one user posted a series of smiley-faces clinking glasses and a picture of the current Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, saying “I hope Jeff Sessions will investigate her along with Hillary and all other crooks.”

Another user wrote that “Senator Session very good!” and, using a racial slur to describe both former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder, said they hoped that Sessions would “investigate” them. Another wrote that Trump was picking the “dream team.”

The reaction on the r/altright reddit, another popular discussion forum for white nationalists, was also generally positive. One user wrote: “The only thing that matters at this point in time is saving the white race. And Jeff Sessions is good for this”

A co-host of “Fash the Nation,” one of the most popular alt-right podcasts, tweeted his excitement.

And David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the KKK and avid Trump supporter, went on a Twitter tear.

In an article on his website, Duke wrote: “Bravo President Trump! Some Great First Steps!”

Trump’s priorities are clear in his early choices of advisers. The elevation of white nationalist figure Steve Bannon wasn’t the exception. It’s clear now that it’s the rule — and white nationalists are celebrating.
