If you take more than you give–and everyone does the same thing–we end up with a deficit of giving and a surplus of taking. Think about it this way: if a business pays out more in expenses than it brings in with profit, it will fail and it will fail miserably.
Life is kind of the same way, if we all believe that we are ‘owed’ something, and we act like everyone around us needs to give us more than we want to give, bad things will happen. Laws will be broken, people will be treated unfairly and civilizations will crumble.
Because giving to others is really about giving to us all, and on this special day, we all need to remember that.
