Do-Nothing Former House Speaker John Boehner Now Wants to Give Our Kids Cancer

Last week, former House speaker and Republican John Boehner joined the board of tobacco giant Reynolds American Inc. The former GOP congressman from Ohio is widely known for his cigarette habit as well as his close ties to the tobacco industry. So it should surprise no one that once Boehner finished up his job at doing nothing for the American people last year, he would smoke out the nearest opportunity to cash in for himself at any cost to the American people. But what is surprising, is that a man, who claims to have a career of public service would actually take a job working for a company that directly markets a proven cancer-causing habit, like smoking cigarettes, to kids. Matthew L. Myers, president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, called it “truly absurd” that, as Reynolds and Boehner recently claimed, that they would be committed to curbing tobacco use among kids, saying this about their assertion: “Their records show the exact opposite,” Myers said. “Reynolds’ announcement pairs the tobacco company with the most egregious record of marketing to kids and a politician with a long record of fighting policies to reduce youth tobacco use.” Yes, the Republican party has just reached a new all-time low, as one of its most powerful leaders has decided to sell your kids’ lives for a...

Trump Just Chumped His Supporters and They Don’t Even Care

IMAGE CREDIT: IFYOUONLYNEWS.COM Let’s get something straight here: Donald Trump founded his presidential campaign on the idea that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States. In other words, the first African-American U.S. president is a ‘foreigner.’ It was an instant hit, and just like any other kind of a commercial ‘hit,’ it was followed-up with such classics as ‘I Will Build a Wall,’ ‘Putin is a Great Leader,’ and ‘Judge Curiel Is against Me Because He Is Mexican.’ That’s why it was so surprising to hear Trump admit on Friday that, in fact, President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Wait, what?! What is so telling about this, is that even though Trump just reversed himself on the idea that the president wasn’t born in the U.S.–the very foundation of his campaign–he is able to hang on to his original supporters. This proves two important points: 1) Trump supporters are simply racists who seek a racist leader, and 2) Trump deserves credit as one of the biggest con men in all of human history....

Anyone Who Supports Donald Trump at This Point Is as Deplorable as He Is

IMAGE CREDIT: Neo Nazis Pledge To Protect Trump Supporters At RNC/YOUTUBE.COM DEPLORABLE: ‘very bad in a way that causes shock, fear, or disgust.’ After reading the Merriam-Webster definition of the word ‘deplorable,’ I am beginning to think Hillary Clinton was being much too kind in a recent speech she made using the word. There is no question that the presidential campaign has touched a nerve with many American citizens. But the level of hate, dishonesty and manipulation used by Trump and his campaign in order to win the White House goes beyond being simply ‘deplorable.’ Anyone who says they don’t believe that Trump’s campaign was built upon a foundation of hate and racism is either lying, kidding themselves, or much worse. I hardly think it necessary to recap all the proof of this, as Trump has done an excellent job documenting this strategy in print and video. As a matter of fact, his campaign was launched with the idea that President Obama was not born in the United States and it wasn’t until today, in fact, that he was forced by his campaign staff to admit that Barack Obama was actually born in the United States. Every issue Trump has emphasized while building an audience of supporters has been designed to stoke fear and racism, from building a wall to keep immigrants out, to calling the president a foreigner, to refusing to denounce the...

‘Ask Not What Your Country Can Do for You — Ask What You Can Do for Your Country’

UNIVERSITY AVENUE, ATLANTA, GA, JULY 31, 2916. IMAGE CREDIT: KWOTABLE.COM It’s amazing how selfish the average American citizen has become. A couple of month’s ago, I was inspired to write an editorial entitled Why it Doesn’t Matter Whether Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump Is The Next President, because as I was walking down the sidewalk of my hometown, Atlanta, Georgia, I was disgusted at the amount of garbage I saw on the side of the road. It struck me, as it often does, that JFK’s famous statement, ‘My fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country,’ hasn’t just been forgotten, but it’s been turned on its head. Our culture has become one of taking, rather than giving, and that has caused us to have a huge moral deficit of goodwill and growth. The reason I thought of JFK as I looked at that trash, was because I realized it is the symptom of a huge structural and cultural problem in the United States. Just as a business has to take in more money than it pays out in order for it to sustain itself, so too does a society have to put more in than it takes out, or it will crumble. I haven’t seen as big an indication that America has adopted the wrong approach, as I do with the...

Donald Trump Is Chris Christie’s Next Meal Ticket

Vanity Fair reports that ‘unpopular New Jersey governor Chris Christie wants to make it abundantly clear that he is a confidant of Donald Trump, and not a “manservant,” as one news story recently suggested. The Christie camp’s fervent efforts to dispel this characterization of the failed presidential candidate come just one day after a New Yorker article portrayed Christie as a valet of sorts to the New York billionaire.’ I watched Mr. Christie tonight, as he spoke highly of his favorite presidential candidate, Donald Trump, and I could not shake the idea that all Christie really cares about is getting a job, after he loses his New Jersey governorship. He is so much like Trump: he will lie, steal and do whatever else it takes to get what he wants. It seems to me, the Trump/Christie relationship is a match made in...

Trump: ‘Hillary Failed at the Economy,’ You Know, the One She Never Managed

The lies that spew from the mouth of Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, just seem to get bigger and bigger every day that his campaign is still alive. He recently said that Hillary Clinton has ‘failed on the economy.’ Apparently, even my degree in economics didn’t teach me that, as a first lady, or a senator, or even the secretary of state, one can control the U.S. economy in any relevant way. Oh, but Donald Trump–the ‘billionaire’ who won’t release his tax records to prove such a status–says that Hillary Clinton is responsible for anything bad that has happened to the U.S. economy. If she is truly that powerful, without even holding a position of such power, then perhaps she should be the next commander-in-chief.  ...

Trump is a Chump

Donald Trump has announced that he will not release his tax returns before the presidential election. That controversial decision has elicited a challenge from fellow billionaire and Hillary Clinton supporter Warren Buffett, who’s offered to hold a joint-forum in which the Oracle of Omaha and the developer-candidate both field questions on their filings from an audience of voters. So the man with the best plan ever says Trump is a Chump, and so what are we, as voters, to think about that? Well, I will tell you what I think: Donald Trump is not just a Chump, he is a total and complete...

Donald Trump Won’t Show His Taxes, but Hey, Hillary Clinton Has Pneumonia

IMAGE CREDIT: Getty Images Hillary Clinton is a 68-year-old who is running all over the country in a pantsuit at a pace that would put your typical 19-year-old into a state of ill health and general hysteria. It caused her to get pneumonia–what a surprise. Yet the people promoting the candidacy of Donald Trump–any of whom probably couldn’t handle one day of Clinton’s schedule without a total meltdown–just can’t stop talking about how Clinton is now unfit to be commander-in-chief because she got pneumonia. I have had ‘walking pneumonia,’ the kind that Hillary Clinton is fighting. I got it in college, when I was 19 years old and on a mission to change the world. I am the kind of person who doesn’t like to admit failure and doesn’t like to complain, so while I knew something was wrong, I refused to see the campus doctor or to stop my active, daily routine. After a week of this stubbornness, I finally collapsed and the campus doctor came to me. He gave me antibiotics and told me to rest, please. I was embarrassed. In other words, I understand where Secretary Clinton is coming from on this ‘issue.’ Yet now, all the Trump surrogates and supporters can talk about is how Hillary Clinton ‘has not been honest about her health.’ Really? That is about as lame as it gets, especially when their candidate won’t show us the proof of his...
