So What Would Happen If Donald Trump Pulled Out of the Presidential Race?

GOP Officials Exploring Options if Trump Drops Out Republican officials are exploring how to handle a scenario that would be unthinkable in a normal election year: What would happen if the party’s presidential nominee dropped out? ABC News has learned that senior party officials are so frustrated — and confused by Donald Trump’s erratic behavior… Just a few weeks ago, the idea that Donald Trump might pull out of the presidential race would have been met with uncontrollable laughter. Unfortunately, for the sake of Trump’s supporters and Trump himself, an almost non-stop series of incredibly damaging statements and gaffes – most of which have been unneccessarily offered by the candidate himself – has forced many party insiders and fellow billionaires to drop their support for Trump and fuel the idea that Trump may be forced to drop his candidacy altogether. We have documented many of these gaffes, as has the media in general. The question now becomes, though, what are the mechanics of such a situation, if it were to occur? As we researched this issue, we found this protocol, as reported by The Fiscal Times: According to Rule 9 – Filling Vacancies in Nominations” — of the Rules of the Party on the GOP website: “(a) The Republican National Committee is hereby authorized and empowered to fill any and all vacancies which may occur by reason of death, declination, or...

Donald Trump’s Tiny Mind and the Politics of Personal Vengeance

IMAGE CREDIT: Before the 2016 presidential election officially began, most Americans already knew that Donald Trump had an affinity for exaggeration. That wasn’t really a problem – we understood the success of his businesses has been in no small part a function of his promotional abilities. And let’s face it, anyone who can create a gleaming, 58-story glass tower on New York City’s Fifth Avenue out of a site previously occupied by homeless Polish immigrants certainly knows a thing or two about flash and bling. A year later, however, it’s fair to say the average American is shaking their head at the level of shameless promotion and self-importance displayed by the presidential candidate, Donald J. Trump. It’s not just that he brags about how rich he is (although that has been called into question by his fellow billionaires, no less), it is the unprecedented level of mean-spirited, personally-directed venom that seems to run through his entire being. Here are the Top Ten Most Outrageous Statements made by Trump, according to Marie Claire magazine: 1. “An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud” 2. “Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again – just watch. He can do much better!” 3. “Ariana Huffington is unattractive, both...

Why it Doesn’t Matter Whether Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump Is The Next President

PHOTO CREDIT: University Avenue, Atlanta Georgia, July 31, 2016 I live in a major U.S. city, and as I walked down the sidewalk in front of my house on the way to the convenience store today, I noticed a lot of trash alongside the road. My first thought was a question: “How can people so disrespect their surroundings that they would throw a Wendy’s bag out of their car window?” And by the way, we are talking many Wendy’s bags, along with a lot of other things that contained stuff people consumed on the road and then threw out their car windows because they didn’t want to deal with it until they got home to dispose of it responsibly. I shook my head in disgust, but then I connected this unfortunate trend to the current presidential race. Let’s be honest, while big money has been proven to poison our beloved democracy, our current culture of immediate gratification and disdain for helping others has done much more damage to the American ideal of happiness and prosperity than anything else. Because, you see, it’s not really about how one person, whether it is Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump – or anyone else for that matter – can ‘fix’ everything that is wrong with America, it starts with us. And when I say ‘us,’ I mean you and me. JFK asked what we can all do for our country, and he...

AMERICA: Grow Up and Get a Pair

America, and the rest of the free world for that matter, has become a shooting gallery for the ill and disaffected. Why? Weakness. For once, can we all just please pull together in the face of this ridiculous and moronic use of violence and say “no?” The idea that a dictator-loving fool like Donald John Trump is the answer to our problems is probably the stupidest thought that ever crossed the mind of a thing with a brain. To be clear: DONALD TRUMP IS A FOOL WHO IS MORE SCARED THAN YOU ARE OF WHATEVER IT IS OUT THERE THAT SCARES YOU. A leader doesn’t threaten those who challenge him/her, a leader welcomes that challenge, because a leader knows that he/she/it must face a darkness that is unknown and scary. Donald Trump is scared of his own shadow, yet incredibly close to becoming a seriously-armed world leader with his shaky finger on the red button. Grow up America and stop thinking your problems will be solved by a billionaire who could become president. There is only one person who can solve your problems, and that person is YOU.  ...
